Balmain’s black and brocade embellishment over the past few fall seasons has got me ogling for opulent fashion. The rich foil colors are a throw back to the thread-like fabric from the 15th century. Golds, silvers, and purples add a touch of sophistication and class to this more refined fabric. From double-breasted jackets as seen on Halle Berry to cardigans and fitted dresses, this baroque embellishment is appearing in a variety of forms. Shenae Grimes NYFW 2012 Power Suit

Fashion Week 2012 has been all about the monochromatic power suit. These three are some of the most memorable I’ve seen so far. Theyskens’ Theory white double breasted sports coat can be perfect for going from work to late night drinks while Pierre Balmain’s more feminine single-button reverse tuxedo pantsuit can be worn to a more dressier occasion. When it comes to classic black suits like the one by Billy Reid, accessories can really play a big role. I am loving suede lace-up booties in pastel colors.
