She’s already the funniest, most beautiful girl I know… And she’s only two and a half! Haha The highlight of hiatus thus far has certainly been heading home to Toronto to visit my amazing family and play with my baby sis!

I’m About To Get Sappy

90210 Cast On Se90210 Cast On Se90210 Cast On Se90210 Cast On Se90210 Cast On Se

I’ve gotta say, it was a lovely day on set yesterday! We had almost the entire cast in a scene, which is always a rare occasion, and our set was on the sun-soaked sands of Huntington Beach…great energy all around!

It may sound cheesy but it truly is days like that that reminds me how phenomenal it is that I get to do what I do and beyond all the bullshit, work with the people that I work with. The unique and obviously multi-talented people that make up my cast also happen to be the passionate, inspiring, hilarious and supportive people that have become an extended family to me over the past four years. Through highs and lows of every avenue, we’ve been stuck together and have held on tight.

Dreaming of Dreamcatchers

Shenae Grimes' DreamcatchersShenae Grimes' Dreamcatchersdreamcatchers

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a fascination with native american spirituality and its creative expression.  Growing up in Canada, we were taught about the beginnings of Inukshuit sculptures, rock carvings, and the many other artistic means of storytelling that originated with the Inuit people who founded our country. If ya don’t know what I’m rallying about, take a look!

I’ve had a dream catcher hanging over my bed ever since I can remember.  My dad used to buy these beautiful and intricate ones on his business trips as gifts for me and now that I’m all grown up, I still can’t imagine a good night’s sleep without one. I’ve never been a great sleeper, so I suppose believing there’s something there watching over you to filter out the negative dreams is comforting.  It doesn’t hurt that they so damn stunning to look at either.

I brought one out with me from home, in Toronto, and decided to start expanding my collection now that I’m in a big-girl apartment on my own.  We could all use a little more positive energy in our lives, right? :)

Chrome Hearts ‘Bam Bam’ Costume

Our Halloween CostumesJessie's Madeline CostumeShenae's Bam Bam CostumeShenae's Bam Bam Costume

I’ve never been a big fan of dressing up on Halloween because of the pressures to uphold a common female tradition of skimping out on clothing.  Props to stores like Trashy Lingerie for their incredible attention to detail and ability to flatter the female form, but it just ain’t my bag.

Fortunately, this year, with the generous efforts of my good friend and head designer at Chrome Hearts, Jessie Jo Stark and her brilliant design team, my anxiety was quickly eased.  She had decided to be a punk rock Madeline from the children’s cartoon, so keeping in the theme, we chose to create a punk rock Bam Bam costume from The Flintstones for me.  They whipped it up quickly and did a damn fine job!  We make a great underage, cartoon couple if I do say so myself… Thoughts?

Thanks to Josh and Dave at Chrome Hearts!!
